The
process of action research can be an invaluable tool for administrators to use.
The action research process is flexible because it is on going throughout the
school year. The process allows for administrators to examine their own
administrative practices and make changes if necessary based on their findings.
It gives administrators an opportunity to engage with their faculty and staff
by collaborating on an issue or problem and removes them from the feeling of
isolation that comes with the job at certain times. It also provides an
opportunity for administrators to gain deeper insight into own practices. I
feel that I can use action research to document the Response To Intervention
(RTI) process that we will be using at our middle school this year. This process
will be divided up into two parts. First, I want to examine the guidelines,
procedures, and curriculum that our four RTI teachers will be using in their
classrooms this year. It is essential that all teachers and administrators
associated with the RTI program are communicating clearly to one another on a
daily basis. Second, I want to examine deeper into the entering, intervening,
and exiting process that will occur with students based on their individual
goals.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteI am researching RTI as well. I also am concerned about the level of fidelity the classroom teachers are working with the students and the program. Our district uses CScope, and I want to observe how we can modify without losing rigor for the RTI students.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteI as well am researching RTI. I have been asked to revamp our entire program and come up with something completely new with training for our teachers. I really like what you had to say about the administration actually getting help from the faculty. I am the new AP at our elementary school and that is so very important to me to have assistance in decision making. That is a huge part of RTI.
Our region center is getting involved as well. I have been in contact with them and they will assist us with this transition. There are also webinars for RTI that you may want to look into for training that are usually free. Once I know more I will try to share with all the people who are involved with researching RTI. I hope to get something started at an elementary level that will stay consistent through middle school and high school.
